‘The Paris Agreement to combat climate change became international law on Friday (11/4/16) – a landmark deal about tackling global warming amid growing fears that the world is becoming hotter even faster than scientists expected.

So far, 96 countries, accounting for just over two-thirds of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, have formally joined the accord, which seeks to limit global warming to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit). More countries are expected to come aboard in the coming weeks and months.

“We are still in a race against time. We need to transition to a low-emissions and climate-resilient future,” Ban said. “Now is the time to strengthen global resolve, do what science demands and seize the opportunity to build a safer more sustainable world for all.”

This site is dedicated to keeping you informed as to how you can participate in advocating for climate action, on a local level. We all must come together in our individual and varied efforts, in order to push institutions to address global warming….whether it’s writing or calling a politician or government agency or attending a rally, protest, or fundraiser we must come together, to increase our numbers in order to create greater impact. Whether you are involved with environmental groups fighting for the survival of a species, working to ensure clean water and air for New Mexico, or for moving our State towards clean energy, all of these efforts share a common thread… the need for a sustainable climate. So, let’s work together and support each other. Please find activities on the Events Calendar where you can participate and take additional action, to help reach the goal of a sustainable planet for all of us.
