BLM Methane Rule is a Win/Win/Win

On 3.7.2017, in regard to the BLM Methane Rule, The Santa Fe New Mexican quoted U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce, R-N.M., as saying, “the rule should be overturned because it would be too costly to the industry, hurting profits and, in turn, states like New Mexico because of lost royalties and oil and gas tax revenues.’

Rep. Pearce is either confused or not very well informed….the BLM Methane Rule would in fact do the opposite of his statement. It would create more money for the oil and gas industry because they can sell the captured methane, it would provide more royalties to our State from those methane sales, and actually create jobs through a new industry that helps oil & gas capture their methane by improving efficiencies. The other thing that the Rep. seems to have forgotten….it would also improve the lives of New Mexicans by eliminating a dangerous pollutant which effects our health.
