Don’t let the fossil fuel industry make you feel guilty in their attempt to blame climate change on individuals instead taking full responsibility themselves. But it is still good to make personal changes in any way that you can to reduce your impact on the climate crisis.

Santa Fe County Sustainability offers a free, impartial consultation for residents who are considering solar. Now is a great time to solarize your home, or to encourage your landlord to solarize. We can help you get started, answer your questions about solar, and help you find financial resources to make your solarization affordable. A 26% federal tax credit is available through the end of 2022.

New Mexico Solar Energy Association
A non-profit chapter of the American Solar Energy Society, NMSEA serves New Mexico through chapters in Alamogordo, Albuquerque, Las Vegas, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Silver City and Taos, with interest in other regions. Most chapters have monthly/bi-monthly programs and/or other educational events. Their Sunchaser program takes energy-related programs to public and private schools throughout New Mexico and the far reaches of the state. Their main events are Solar Fiesta (Albuquerque, September), Taos Solar Music Festival (Taos, June) and SynergyFest (Las Vegas, April) and hands-on classes.

This study responds to the New Mexico State Senate’s 2018 SM023, calling for a study to be done on “how a carbon fee could be implemented in New Mexico and its effects on the economy, jobs, health and greenhouse gas emissions.” The present study provides recommendations and supporting evidence for the implementation question.

Regeneration International
Regeneration International, a project of the Organic Consumers Association, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to building a global network of farmers, scientists, businesses, activists, educators, journalists, governments and consumers who will promote and put into practice regenerative agriculture and land-use practices that: provide abundant, nutritious food; revive local economies; rebuild soil fertility and biodiversity; and restore climate stability by returning carbon to the soil, through the natural process of photosynthesis.


Santa Fe Forest Coalition
A citizen coalition united in calling for a comprehensive environmental impact statement be completed prior to any tree cutting and burning on forested public lands above Santa Fe. This environmental review must: first, recognize the lawful right of citizens to be fully informed participants in managing their lands; second, must evaluate a full range of alternatives, including those based on scientific opinion opposed to extensive vegetation clearing; and third disclose and evaluate all cumulative impacts on air quality from prescribed burning, the effects of mechanical treatments on water quality, soils and wildlife including stream sedimentation, soil erosion, displacement of wildlife, habitat modification and the spread of invasive weed species.
